Our Camera actually worked.
There are some other well-known 3rd person games out there, which shall remain nameless that, with all the charity in the world, cannot be said to have a particularly workable camera. Since a game of this nature revolves (literally!) around the performance of the camera, we were especially proud of our implementation. Especially gratifying was the public announcement of some of the gaming communities’ luminaries of the impossibility of going back to the conventional 3rd person games after playing H2.
Felu' in care se joaca si implementarile care tin de perspectiva si camera si miscari is chestii care impresioneaza inca, mai ales cand te gandesti ca erau vremurile de inceput si nu era un sablon, nimic standard pt asta. Sistemul de control al avatarului e amplu. Te poti rostogoli culcat in toate directiile. Poti sari lateral, inainte, spate. Ca un gimnast. Daca apesi scurt face un salt mai mic. Daca tii apasata tasta face un salt complet, cu rotatie. Daca echipezi staff-ul si sprintezi, foloseste staff-ul ca o prajina, pentru un salt lung. Amazing stuff ce au gandit, din nou, fara exemple, fara repere de la alte jocuri. Raven ruled dintotdeauna.
Release timing.
We released a few days off from Half-Life. You can’t get much more unfortunate than that, unless you release the same day as Quake 3. With all the anticipation that had been built regarding Half Life, the release time was unfortunate. On the other hand, our release date had been set by Activision when we were first green lighted, where as the Valve guys tended to be more floating with theirs.
Heh, una dintre victimele Half Life-ului 🙂 In ziua de azi, cand mai nimeresc vreo discutie pe vreun forum and stuff despre Half Life si impactu' lui, mi se pare asa de prost inteles adevarata amploare a jocului. Multi se uita rigid la impact, la influenta, si cauta sa fie jocuri 1:1 ca sa identifice influenta. In realitate, uite ca impactu' se intinde si pe simpla prezenta in proximitatea jocului, care suge oxigenul din camera si nu ramane pt altii.

Ne miscam greu cu trimisul prin Posta Romana, deci va avea timp destul.
Posta Romana care nu mai are sedii prea multe spre deloc dar vrea sa concureze cu Easybox de la Emag ... Cred ca au maimute la comnducere sau ceva de genul :))))
